Jaguar I-PACE Key Security
The Jaguar I-PACE is Jaguar's fully electric SUV, launched in 2019 and winner of the 2019 World Car of the Year. It is the only fully electric vehicle in the JLR range — no petrol engine, no diesel engine, no combustion drivetrain of any kind. It uses a 90kWh battery with dual electric motors producing 400ps (EV400) or 320ps (EV320) depending on specification.
The I-PACE uses the advanced KVM (Key Vehicle Module) architecture with UWB (Ultra-Wideband) keyless proximity technology throughout its entire production run — from the first 2019 model to the latest. Unlike the E-PACE which only added UWB at the 2021 facelift, every I-PACE has UWB from launch. The KVM and UWB systems require specialist JLR-specific diagnostic equipment — generic OBD tools cannot programme I-PACE keys.
Because the I-PACE has no internal combustion engine, its KVM diagnostic access protocol differs slightly from petrol and diesel JLR vehicles. The absence of a conventional engine management ECU changes the interface path. JLR Key carries I-PACE-specific equipment that addresses this correctly — the same tools used for KVM module programming are adapted for the I-PACE's EV architecture.
All I-PACE key services — smart key programming, spare keys, key replacement and all-keys-lost — are carried out on-site across North Wales. Services not applicable to the I-PACE as an EV: ECU remapping, DPF cleaning and engine-ECU-based mileage correction.
