JLR smart key programming is the process of coding a new keyless push-start fob to a Jaguar or Land Rover vehicle's immobiliser system. Unlike older blade-cut keys, modern JLR smart keys contain a transponder chip that must communicate with the vehicle's security module — either the KVM (Key Vehicle Module), the BCM (Body Control Module) on older models, or the advanced post-2018 KVM with UWB (Ultra-Wideband) technology on newer Range Rovers, Defenders and Discovery 5s.
